Razan County

Razan County covers an area of 2,729 square kilometers, accounting for about 14% of the area of Hamadan Province and is located 75 kilometers from Hamadan.
Razan City is the center of Razan County and its largest city, located on the main road from Hamadan to Tehran. In addition to Razan City, two cities of Qorveh in Jazin and Demq and three districts: Markazi, Sardrood and Qorveh in Jazin are located in Razan County. Razan City is located approximately in the center of the county, which is bordered by Qazvin Province to the north and northwest, Hamadan County to the south, Markazi Province to the east, and Kabudarahang County to the west. In the northeast of this county is the Kharqan Mountain Range, the highest point of which in Razan County is 2,630 meters above sea level. Since Razan is located in the northernmost part of the province, its weather is relatively colder than other parts of the province and it enjoys a moderate climate in summers. Razan is located in a plain surrounded by mountains of the Zagros mountain range.
Reason for naming:
Two stories have been told about how Razan was named and its historical background: First, Razan is derived from the word Raizan, which in the idiom Raizan means a host. The explanation of this article states that Razan was built on the Isfahan-Zanjan and Qazvin-Hamdan roads, and its initial building was a caravanserai, and travelers, after resting at the Shah Abbasi caravanserai located in Avuj, considered their next home to be Razan, and over time Raizan changed to Razan. The second story about Razan states that due to the presence of grape (rose) gardens in this area, it became known as Razan, which over time changed to Razan.
